Adoption of artificial insemination technology and its intensity of use in Eastern Tigray National Regional State of Ethiopia

Abstract Background The study was focused on the adoption and intensity of artificial insemination (AI) Technology in Saesie-tsaedaemba District Tigray Region, Ethiopia. AI is one most important valuable dairy technology that has been used for genetic improvement several years area. However, there little empirical information about major factors affecting decision purpose this to evaluate status its identify influencing use technology. Methods A multistage sampling technique applied select sites sample households. structured interview collect data from a total 204 farmers. Besides, key informants triangulate, validate, enrich findings household interview. Results tobit model regression revealed households’ level literacy, milk yield, income, training, access extension service, mobile ownership, supplementation concentrated feed hybrid cattle ownership were found have positive statistically significant relationship with technology, whereas distance farmer training centre (FTC) office had shown negative relationship. Conclusions Adoption context-based plays paramount importance achieving farm household's food security. system should give more emphasis capacity building which pivotal introducing, adoption, scaling out best practices technologies.
